Particularly, during the visit to Portugal by Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue, on January 26, the Ministry of Planning and Investment coordinating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Portugal and related agencies organized the Vietnam-Portugal Business Conference in Lisbon.
Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue and Mr. Augusto Santos Silva, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal attended and co-chaired the conference, on the side of businesses of both sides presented more than 50 enterprises in the fields of commerce, agriculture, finance, manufacturing, medicine, real estate and services. Opening speech at the conference, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal said that more than 500 years ago, Portuguese businessmen had appeared in Southeast Asia and Vietnam, the two sides were about to celebrate the 45th anniversary diplomatic relations as well as continuous visits of high-level leaders of the two sides. Vietnam and Portugal had great potential and advantages to mutually cooperate and develop in the areas of trade, investment and tourism.
Speaking at the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue thanked the Portuguese side for coordinating the well-organized conference. This was an opportunity for Portuguese businesses to have more information about the environment, investment policy of Vietnam. Vietnam was carrying out both deepening and broadening economic reforms, meeting the conditions of international commitments in all areas. Vietnam had market potential and was a gateway for Portuguese enterprises to reach the market of 600 million people in Southeast Asia. Vietnam welcomed Portuguese enterprises to invest in Vietnam and hoped that Portugal would also create conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to cooperate in investing and doing business in Portugal.
In the question and answer section, Mr. Tran Kim Chung, Chairman of C.T Group, the Honorary Consulate of Portugal in Hanoi, also answered some questions from enterprises related to real estate and services in Viet Nam.
